Frutirol

Frutirol Ltd. is active in the field of the production of apples and pears. The company is located in Vacaria, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul (RS) in Brazil.
The company was founded in 1997 by Lorenz Clementi together with his sons and one further partner.
 

The land they purchased was fallow pasture land and was developed into a well-functioning production facility within five years. At present, the company employs more than 80 permanent coworkers and 200 seasonal workers on 970 ha (2425 acres).

The total area of 970 ha currently includes 240 ha of apple and pear treas. An additional 30 ha serve as a tree nursery, and another 100 ha are currently in preparation for planting. Finally, 600 ha are still used as pasture for approx. 300 cows and 50 sheep.

In the year 2002, the following quantities of apples and pears were produced:

• 8,500 metric tons of apples

• 300,000 apple and pear trees

• 500,000 units of root stocks (apples and pears)
